NorrisMckinley is owned by Peter and Liz McKinley and is located in the Ribbon Ridge AVA, the smallest AVA in Oregon and one of Oregon’s most prestigious Pinot noir producing regions.
Peter always had a high interest in wines and wine making and Liz was looking for a way to get back to her roots, having descended from a long line of farmers. Both were looking for their “heaven on earth” near a large city but far from the hectic lifestyle that exists where they currently reside in Southern California. The beautiful Willamette Valley satisfied all of their desires. Their son Robert and his twin, Madeline round out the NorrisMcKinley team.
The original 40-acre site, a hazelnut orchard at the time, was purchased by Pete and Liz in 2005. Over the next two years they developed the site and the first harvest was in 2007.
The McKinley’s view their Ribbon Ridge estate vineyard as the perfect blend of location, beauty and world-class wine making. Oregon Pinot Noir has rightfully joined the ranks of the finest and best wines in the world. As often as possible, the family comes together at Ribbon Ridge along with their dogs that also love the vineyard and delight in romping with the neighbor’s dogs as they jump in and out of the large pond on the property. The McKinley’s feel grateful to be a part of such a lovely community and an amazing wine producing region.
